License & Certificate Renewal Information
All licenses and certificates in Active, Probation, or Suspension status have expiration dates of 12/31/2024 and have lapsed unless they were renewed by 1/31/25. NOTE: The deadline to complete CE was 12/31/24; however, the Board granted an extension to 1/31/25 to complete it. CE earned in 2025 for this renewal period cannot be used for renewal in 2026.
If your license or certificate has lapsed, you may continue to use the online license renewal system; a late penalty fee will be charged.
Note that State Employee licensees and Non-Resident Permit holders need to renew using the paper renewal form mailed to you. If you no longer have it, contact [email protected].
Use this link for the online license/certificate renewal system.
If you have never used the system before, you will need to create an account (see the blue "Create Account" button). If you are a previous user, the system allows you to reset your password and recover your user name if necessary. If you need assistance, please call 602-364-1739.
New users: you will need to link the licenses you wish to renew to your account. If you do not know the license numbers, check the online directory here.
Newsletters with information about the online renewal process were mailed in late October 2024, and a reminder flier was also been mailed in November. Please do not send CE completion certificates to us separately! All CE information will be input into the online renewal system.
The deadline to request a CE waiver was December 10, 2024. A waiver may be granted for these reasons only: (1) illness or disability; (2) military service or absence from the U.S.; or (3) any other circumstances demonstrated by the licensee or certificate holder to be beyond their control.
We suggest that you verify that any Continuing Education you intend to take to earn credit toward license/certificate renewal is "Board-approved" per the Administrative Rules. Click on the Continuing Education page for more information. At all times (not just during COVID-19 related issues) ALL CE may be obtained online as long as it is interactive and is offered by one of the approved sources (i.e. RACE, AzVMA, SAVMA, AAHA, AAVSB, a veterinary college, a veterinary technician program (for CVTs only) or specifically approved by the Arizona Veterinary Medical Examining Board).
(NOTE! A law which became effective 4/26/18 requires a veterinarian who is authorized to dispense controlled substances AND who has a valid U.S. DEA registration number to complete a minimum of 3 hours of opioid-related, substance use disorder-related or addiction-related CE for each license renewal cycle.

If your license or certificate lapsed in 2022 or earlier and you wish to determine if you are eligible to reinstate, please contact Board staff at [email protected] or 602-542-8166. To determine the status of your license or certificate, go to the licensee directory.
*If you reinstatement application contains information that must be reviewed by the Board, the reinstatement cannot occur until the Board approves the reinstatement. The Board meets once per month; therefore the reinstatement process may take several weeks. Please plan accordingly.
